Developed through a collaborative partnership between The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts, Pure Water Southern California would increase the reliability of regional water supplies by recycling and purifying water that currently flows to the ocean. The program would produce up to 150 million gallons of water daily, making it one of the world’s largest purified water projects to date. By delivering a new, climate-resilient supply of locally sourced water, Pure Water Southern California would provide direct and indirect benefits to the 19 million people living within Metropolitan's service area.
